Beatrice royal wedding a sustainable symbol of change

Princess Beatrice wedding: a sustainable symbol

The wedding industry… an expensive and wasteful one…
Buying a dress that you will never wear again, spend money on a more than expensive party. Of course, it is to celebrate something beautiful, the love between two people but it is quite revolting when you see the money that it generates and nothing about it being sustainable, this idea can make you a bit crazy.
However last week something happened: a royal wedding as a sustainable symbol and sign of change.
As everyone knows, we did not have yet a royal wedding where new jewellery and dresses were not show off proudly by a rich and known family. However, Beatrice D’York, member of the royal family, decided to look into her grandmother wardrobe and to use some of her very well-known and gorgeous pieces.

The dress:

The dress was designed by Norman Hartnell for the queen herself. It is made of Organza and Peau de Soie Taffeta. To make it a little bit more modern and more to her liking she decides to add two small sleeves.

As most of the royal wedding, the bride wears more than one dress. However it looks like princess Beatrice decided not to.

The head-piece:

As royals she wore a tiara and here again she decided to go for the vintage look. She used the same one as her grandmother the queen used for her wedding.

Of course, the queen as per her status has always over the years wore beautiful pieces that should be reused. But we all know that the wedding gown of your mum or grandmother are not always of your taste or even in good condition.
A wedding day is such a special day, so we understand you are not feeling like going to a vintage shop and buy an already worn (by a stranger)bridal dress.
However, I found for you two small business in the UK that work on creating beautiful sustainable bridal dresses.

Well, if you are not feeling the need to buy a super expensive tiara that you will never wear again and you can still want a headpiece here is some beautiful ones from Annabelle Hardie.
