Hyaluronic acid or Collagen : new step of your skincare routine

We are all searching for the anti-ageing miracle. Two products known for helping with this issue are acid hyaluronic and collagen. But which one should you use first? Can you use them both at the same time? Are they sustainable?

Acid Hyaluronic:

This molecule was discovered in 1934. To explain it simply, we will describe it as a sponge. It is part of our body already and help stock on the water to keep our skin hydrated. The problem is that every year we lose a small percentage of it, it is harder and harder for our skin to keep the water that keeps it hydrated all day long.

Today you can find acid hyaluronic quite easily in different forms: masks, creams, serum, injections and tablets.

Cons: it is generally coming from animals so make sure that you use one which is vegan or plant-based such as:

PS: The laboratory Alban Muller in France found that instead of using HA you could use a plant-derived molecule: glucohyami/glucosamine. It would boost the skin production of HA, strengthen the skin and improve its hydration.

Collagen:

Collagen is a protein that our body already creates. It helps with connectivity between cells. Collagen is mainly impacted by sunshine, smoking as well as sugar. Collagen is used to help with the elasticity of the skin. Today you can buy it in so many different forms such as capsule, creams or powder.

Cons: A lot of collagen powder that you can find in the market are from beef, fish or chicken. But you have to know that collagen is also part of nuts, whole grains and beans. It can also be made from yeast and bacteria.

It is quite hard to find vegan collagen but we found three for you :

You can also use plant-based food high in amino acid helping the production of collagen by the body: black and kidney beans, seeds and nuts, soy protein.

To resume:

Hyaluronic acid and Collagen are two different components that both help to maintain youthful skin. Collagen helps with a firm skin and hyaluronic acid hydrates it.

If you want to use only one supplement we would begin with the hyaluronic acid and then later in life add a collagen supplement. They are both FDA approved so there is no risk in their use.
