DIY for Basil plants. save your basil. easy DIY to grow Basil

Growing an indoor herb garden

I have been trying for so long to grow my herb garden to have fresh products. If you are also from the UK or a cold/ rainy country you can understand how hard this process is. Also not having a green thumb is a disaster… until you try an indoor garden.
One of the main two plants I wanted to have was basil (for salad, pesto and decoration) and mint (for the nice tea and to add freshness to desserts).

So first I decided to buy a “click and grow” indoor garden.

Pros:

Those gardens are just savers. For anyone who wants to have fresh products and usually forget to water them, this will help. If you are in a flat with not so much light and your plants die because of lack of sun or lack of warm weather you will love the device.
It is super easy to use and comes with 3 pots of basil.
The LED of the engine will light up for 16 hours for the plant to develop. Because the lights are LED it will not use too much electricity ( we are talking about £7 per year). Regarding the plants, you can do basil or other herbs. To be honest, I would only do herbs as for flowers you should replant them or I read a lot of comments of it not working.

Cons:

The price of the pod is a little high! I am ok with the price of the indoor garden as it can fully reduce your bill at the end of the year: I use to buy basil every two weeks in those plastic bags which costs £2/£3 so having a fresh plant all year long without plastic was kind of a win for me.

To make sure you utilize your pods as much as you can you should cut them following that video. The plant will concentrate on regrowing the part you just cut instead of trying to find more space which can lead to more than 3 months worth of fresh basil.

If you begin to have too much basil you can dry it and use it as a dry herb. It will be as tasty and you can save it for several months.

Dry your Basil

The little plus of “click and grow” indoor garden: for every sell they do they plant a tree.

To conclude:

This is an amazing product if you do not have time, lack of sun or overwatering issues. Kids absolutely love it and you can teach them a lot through this ( photosynthesis, pollination etc…). It is an investment but it is really rewarding!

We understand that it is an investment and that you still want to try growing a plant by yourself.
